Appropriately dubbed “Flagtown, USA” as baseball titles were once the city’s annual fare, Baltimore is well represented in this lot of (45) pennants. The felt gonfalons span the 1940s through 1990s and showcase color appliqué designs and include scarce examples cited in Mike Egner’s 2013 Vintage Pennant Price Guide II. Keys include: 1944 International League Champions 3/4-size with (23) players listed; (2) 1954 Orioles with scroll-style roster listing; includes orange and black versions (both “Extremely Rare”). More on our website.

The conditions are remarkable, with sturdy appliqué designs throughout and spines/tassels intact. There are a few very minor fissures on some. In addition to the stunning qualities of these souvenirs, some very scarce variations are present. Note: parenthetical reports on rarity of pennants are listed as they appear in Egner’s above-mentioned guide. Additional highlights include:

1946 International League Baltimore Orioles full-size orange felt pennant with sturdy black appliqué (24 names listed) and a crisp black spine.

1950s Baltimore Orioles a ¾-size green felt pennant with thick appliqué at 100% (white spine).

(2) 1950s Baltimore Orioles ¾-size with Bird-on-ball logo and “BALTIMORE” in appliqué. Includes a black version with orange appliqué, orange spine and black tassels; and a red version with white appliqué, yellow spine/tassels. Appliqué is virtually crack-free on both well-kept survivors which list as “Rare” in Egner’s guide.

(2) 1950s Baltimore Orioles ¾-size with team logo and script-style “Baltimore” in appliqué. Includes black version with orange appliqué, orange spine and black tassels; and olive version with white appliqué, spine and tassels. Both present (NM) with 100% appliqué and list as “Very Rare” in Egner’s guide.

(8) 1950s Baltimore Orioles full-size with Bird in 7-1/2”-diameter baseball, script-style “Baltimore” and “shadowed” “ORIOLES” in appliqué. There are (8) separate color variations! This version (in any color scheme) lists as “Rare” in Egner’s guide.

1958 All-Star Game a black felt full-size banner with white appliqué portrait of Memorial Stadium. White spine/tassels intact. Lists as “Rare” in Egner’s guide.

There are several additional 1950s full-size versions listed as “Rare” and “Very Rare” in Egner’s guide (these present NM).

Championship versions include (3) 1666, (2) 1969, (2) 1970, (1) 1971, (1) 1979 and (1) 1983.
