Fresh off of his conquest of Sonny Liston, outspoken heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali set his sights on Floyd Patterson in a showdown defined by racial and social overtones. Dubbed simply (and accurately) as “The Big Fight” on the cover of the November 22, 1965 Sports Illustrated, the bout met with incredible hype and a one-sided result. This original magazine cover is signed by Ali in black marker (“7-8” strength). Framed to 14-1/4 x 16-1/4”, the cover portrays the opponents with neon proclamations in the background.
