In ample warning of a dynasty in the making, the 1928 Philadelphia Athletics erased a 13-1/2-game deficit and actually passed the New York Yankees to occupy first place before ultimately succumbing down the stretch. In 1929, however, those Shibe Park tenants supplanted the Bronx Bombers as champions, touching off a three-year run of A.L. flags. This unofficial ball is autographed by (20) members of that 1929 As roster. The off-white orb is home to fountain pen scriptings whose strengths vary between (8) and (4). The unofficial Passon orb features prominent trademark stampings, one of which proclaims: 18 Innings Guaranteed. Well, that disclaimer hasnt been challenged, as this keepsake was spared from the diamond. Alternating red-and-blue laces remain (if somewhat faded) and mild age-induced discoloration hardly detract from signatures of a significant installment. Includes: Sweet Spot Earnshaw; North Panel B. Miller (3-4 strength), Foxx (5 strength), Orwoll, Yerkes, Hale and Grove (4 strength); South Panel Quinn (d.1946), Hassler, Simmons (7 strength), Rommel and Cochrane (7 strength); West Panel Collins (4-5 strength), Haas and Boley (3-4 strength); East Panel Bishop, Dykes, French and Walberg; Reverse Sweet Spot Ehmke.
