Still a dominating mound presence at 38 years old, Hall of Fame southpaw Steve Carlton helped power the 1983 Phillies to their second National League pennant in four seasons, posting 15 wins to up his career total to 300. Encapsulated and Graded VG 3 by PSA, this September 23, 1983 ticket stub was issued at Busch Stadium for the contest in which Carlton reached that pitching milestone. The “Field Box” voucher features printed seating/event details, as well as images of the stadium and Gateway Arch. With razor sharp edges/corners and a clean reverse, the voucher presents nicer than the technical assessment suggests.
The consummate performer, Carlton helped his own cause with an RBI single that night as the Phils triumphed, 6-2 to remain three games ahead of the second-place Pirates. For his career, incidentally, Carlton posted a lifetime 38-14 record against St. Louis for far and away his best winning percentage (.731) against any other team.
